Cameron Kings Review of GI Joe: The Rise of the Cobra
This movie is mainly for anybody who's a fan of GI Joe. Sons, dads and grandpas would love this movie as it demonstrates brotherhood and team playing. If you're a video gamer and you play the XBOX 360 or PS3, you'll recognize the background to be that of Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4. Starring Channing Tatum and Marlon Wayans this movie also demonstrates fatherhood and love of family. Aimed Mainly at the teenage male demographic ages 15-25, this movie also contains love and passion for the female demographic. So if your looking for a great family movie this is the movie for you. I would give this movie 5 stars.
Cameron King's Review of:
Mean Girls
Starring Lindsay Lohan this movie brings beauty and love to sisterhood. Aimed mainly at the female demographic ages 15 to 35 this movie combines the story of young female relationships with the struggle of adolesence. Also starring Tina Fey this movie really strikes a chord for anybody male of female. I'd give this move 5 stars. If you like female cat fights mixed with school girl trouble definitely rent this. I think it will definitely bring mothers back to their school girl days back when they got in trouble over guys, and were rebellious against their teachers and doing their homework. But don't worry guys. If your looking for really cute girls this is definitely the movie to rent. To me it brings back memories of when I was in grade school and my first crushes. Basically the story line involves Cady Heron an unpopular person who moves from Africa to a new school and is asked to join a clique called the Plastics. She then makes the mistake of falling for the head of the cliques boyfriend, Aaron Samuels. This was definitely one of the last movies where Lindsay Lohan portrayed her good girl side. All through out the movie she has to work her way out of the whole she dug herself into and all the friendships that she ruined by joining the Plastics and at the end of the movie she does. I think its a really sappy ending because she ends up becoming Aaron Samuels new girlfriend. Which means of course that her friendship with the cliques leader is over but shes happy with him so I don't think it really matters to her. I would definitely recommend this as a family movie enjoyable by all ages.
Cameron King's Wanted Movie Review
Starring Angelina Jolie, I think this movie definitely deserves 5 stars. I thought the action sequences were very enthralling as were the car chasing scenes. I'm actually personally a huge action junkie and my favorite car of all time is in this movie. I actually think its pretty cool because Angelina's character carjacks the dodge viper in this movie using a knife as the key. I liked the story line a lot because it basically was about a dad and his son and how the dad died and left a pretty substantial amount of money ($5,000,000.00) on a debit card for his son to continue the family business of being a hitman. I thought the story line was very good because it makes teenagers realize that they're a lot more reasons to love your parent's besides money. Basically, after the main character's dad dies, Morgan Freeman and Angelina Jolie take his teenage son under their wings and initiate him into his fathers line of work: being a hitman. I think there's alittle of the Grand Theft Auto and Need For Speed Undercover background from the popular video games in this movie. You'll definitely recognize the need for speed background when Angelina sends the Viper Airborne over a road block of police cars. I thought the visual effects were pretty cool because in one part of the movie, when his son sticks his ATM card into the machine, it acts like a tarot card reader and asks him if his friend is sleeping with his girl while saying he's broke at the same time. Then when he sticks his dads card into the ATM, it says that there's $5,000,000.00 to his dads name. Surprised, he only takes out $40.00 out and asks himself why would he leave that amount of money for him. To me, it makes me realize that love is far more valuable than money. If all the money in the world were to disappear, all we would have as humans would be each other. I think that's the main part of the movie that i think people should take away. Also the fact that Angelina Jolie is extremely hot in this film. ;-)
Cameron King's “Songs About Jane” Maroon 5 Music Review
I would definitely have to say that if you were to ask anybody young or old about a good band, one name that would probably come up would be Maroon 5. While their music might not touch everybody, I would definitely have to say that when this CD was released back in 2002, the track entitled “She Will Be Loved” definitely became a very popular song. In about 2005 when they released the music video for this track, I think the music video was just as popular. I would have to say that this particular track truck a cord with a lot of people mainly middle aged couples. I think Maroon 5, Nickelback, and Third Eye Blind would probably be along the same lines. I thought the premise of She Will Be Loved, was about parent's struggles with each other and how it effected their children. In the music video, what I envisioned in my mind when I listened to this song was pretty much the same. In the video, the main singer has a problem with his wife and vents his frustrations out on her over an ex-girlfriend in front of their daughter. I thought that it very well portrayed the everyday American family now. How the father always works and the mother always stays home to take care of the kid. I believe the main singer of the band, Adam Levine titled this CD Songs About Jane, because it was his way of reaching out and getting back to one of his ex-girlfriends and how his life was screwed up after they left each other. I would definitely have to say that a couple of my other favorite tracks on this CD would include: This Love, Sunday Morning, and Harder To Breathe. Just the lyrics and the titles of these songs sort of give me a hunch that Adam's reminiscing on his past relationship and is just trying to convey the importance of trust and communication to younger couples so they don't make the same mistakes that he did. He knows that a lot of younger teenagers are listening to his music and he's just trying to reach out and give back. I would definitely give this CD a five star rating. The genre would fall under rock/alternative so i think just about anybody would like it.
Cameron King's Review on: Taylor Swift's Fearless and Self Titled Album
I have to say that pretty much my whole life, I've grown up listening to country. Everything from Alan Jackson to Toby Kieth, I've pretty much heard it all. I've always thought of a lot of country songs as just older men looking back on their childhood. A perfect example: Kenny Chesney's “I Go Back” or Toby Keith's “Huckleberry.” To top that off, a lot of my favorite country artists are around my dads age. Back when I was a freshman at Drake High School in 2000, is when I got my very first monochrome 10 GB iPod and became addicted to music. Nine years ago they weren't anything like they are today. You couldn't watch movies or TV shows on them nor could you make phone calls on them. I must say though that I really do like the iPod Touch's/iPhones capability to preview and purchase music on iTunes on the go. Being a huge Technology junkie as well as music junkie, the iPod touch is pretty much what I would call my “mini me.” Half way through my high school years, my family split up and I left my little sister. I had actually never heard of Taylor Swift until one day when I was at College of Marin and I was browsing the iTunes Store on my iPod. What I liked about Taylor, was that she was very original, very beautiful, had a great voice, and reminded me of my sister. When I heard that she won all the Grammy awards, I wasn't shocked. I think a young star who's just coming into her own with all her talent that she deserved them. Her one track titled “I'm Only Me When I'm With You” on her self titled album and the music video remind me so much of me and my little sister when we were growing up. The fact that she's only 18 and entering a very difficult industry is pretty courageous. I feel that with all the troubles and hassles in my life more recently, that I can relate to a lot of her songs. They're very uplifting and positive and I feel that they help me get through my life a lot easier. Her track entitled “Our Song” reminds me of my elementary through high school years and ll the girlfriends that I had. I think the premise of this song in particular is really good. I'm sure if a lot of parents as well as young teenagers listened to it, both male and female that they'd get a better grip on relationships. I also feel that having a little sister myself, that her songs are helping me improve my relationship with her. They're making me realize that my little sister's my supporter and life long friend. I would definitely recommend Taylor Swift to young teenage girls who like country but also to anybody like me who just needs an uplifting tune to get them through their day to day lives. I would definitely give both “Fearless” and “Taylor Swift” a 5 start rating and would definitely encourage Taylor to keep being strong and expressing herself through what she loves.
Cameron King's Up Movie Review
Released by Pixar Studios in 2009, Up is a great family movie that combines state of the art computer animation with a very family oriented story line. Basically, a really happy old couple based in the middle of a rising industrial city is asked to move their house in order for new office buildings to be built. Being in their mid 70's, it goes back to their elementary school days as to how they met. The main character in the movie was just a lone sailor through his life and then met his wife inventing a flying tree house. He walked in, saw her building it and then fell in love. Then after she passes on, the old guy finds a young cub scout trying to sell him cookies. After she dies, the husband cuts the house from the foundation and ties a bunch of balloons to it to make it fly. Little does he know, the cub scout camps out on his porch, and knocks on the door to let him in once the house is up in the air. Basically, they go on a mission scouting the ruins of the city and find a talking dog that the owner put a talking collar on. Actually they find a couple and the dogs end up arresting his son and then the owner of the dogs, a very famous rich author captures a giraffe and then the dad has to save him and ends up flying his house up to the judges blimp and after setting his son free, he kills the judge and then steals his blimp. Talk about upgraded rides, just to save his son he ends up resting his wifes house on top of the mountain that she always wanted and then goes cruising in a brand new blimp which ironically resembled a modern day Hindenburg after killing the judge and impounding his dogs. I would definitely give this movie 5 stars. I think the storyline was very family oriented and very high tech. We all fell in love with Toy Story back in 1995, and then with Bugs Life, Cars, The Incredibles and then Toy Story 2. Steve Jobs is a very creative and talented man and I think the story pertained to him growing up on how he just wanted to give back. If your looking for a good 5 start family movie for movie night, definitely rent this. It would have to be one of my top 3 picks.
